Fundraising Event:  Celebrating 25 Years as Toronto Pflag – Decades of Unconditional Love

We are excited to announce that we are planning a fun-filled evening to celebrate 25 Years of Toronto Pflag and Decades of Unconditional Love!

November 17th
5:30 PM - 8 PM
The 519 Community Centre Ballroom
Toronto, ON  M4Y 2C9
Tickets:  $50 each. Buy tickets here!

We are encouraging anyone who has ever experienced the love and support of our organization to buy a ticket and come to this event.

We will be honouring two deserving Toronto champions who have shown their love and support to our LGBTQ children with our “Ally Award”, as well as paying tribute to those wonderful parents who were doing a great job supporting the community before the inception of Toronto Pflag 25 years ago.

Meet this year's Ally Award winners!

Sonia Smith

Sonia Smith has made sure LGBTQ kids feel welcomed and safe for nearly two decades.  Both as the head of security at FLY Nightclub at the heart of Toronto’s gay community, and as a hall-based safety monitor at Emery Collegiate Institute in her day job, Sonia’s unconditional love and support is legendary. Thank you, Sonia, for creating safe spaces and watching over our LGBTQ loved ones.

Jim Callaghan

Jim Callaghan is a beacon of love and support. The father of four, including two gay sons, Jim has been a fearless ally of the LGBTQ community as an active volunteer for more than 25 years – from a founding father of Pflag Canada to long-standing editor of Toronto Pflag’s monthly newsletter, Jim’s Pflag Dad story is like none other. Thank you, Jim, for blazing a Pflag trail here in Toronto, across Canada, and within the USA.

Please join us on November 17

As most of you know, Toronto Pflag is 100% run by volunteers…there is no paid staff.  We have a very active Board, and wonderful volunteers, who do the work because the need is still there.  All monies raised through this event, go right back to the charity to fund all the things we do:  two monthly support meetings; 7 day-a-week telephone support line; assemblies/workshops in elementary/middle/high schools/colleges/universities for students, staff and parents; diversity workshops at companies, lunch ‘n’ learn meetings for Toronto businesses and organizations wishing to explore diversity, empower allies, and combat homophobia….we pretty much go wherever we are invited!

Your support means a lot to us. We have not held a fundraiser for three years, and we do not charge a fee for membership.  As a result, we count on the support of our families, both past and present, to help us to continue doing the work that we do. We thank our stakeholders and sponsors for their continued support, and ask that you support those who support us.

Tickets are only $50 and are available at:  http://tinyurl.com/TOpflag.  If you are not able to attend, but would still like to support us, you can make a donation through the ticket site.

We hope that you will be able to join us on November 17th, and look forward to seeing you there!
